Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized the significance of the upcoming Tehran Dialogue Forum as a vital initiative aimed at fostering dialogue among intellectuals and policymakers from various countries.
The forum which is scheduled to take place on May 18-19 in the Iranian capital, is intended to address pressing regional and international challenges through collaborative discussions.
Araghchi made his remarks on the sidelines of a meeting held on Friday with representatives from the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, an organization dedicated to reducing the role of nuclear weapons in global politics, as well as Iranian experts at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) in Tehran.
The meeting was chaired by AEOI Chief Mohammad Eslami, who reported that video presentations showcasing Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities were displayed during the session.
He described the exchanges between specialists as “very productive,” covering key topics such as nuclear cooperation, the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) , ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S. on nuclear matters, and the potential lifting of sanctions against Iran.
Foreign Minister Araghchi also highlighted the participation of over 200 foreign guests in this year's Tehran Dialogue Forum. Among the participating institutions is the Pugwash Institute , recognized globally for its research on disarmament and conflict resolution.
Some members of the institute are scheduled to engage in preliminary discussions with Iranian scholars at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) ahead of the main event.
These sessions aim to build mutual understanding and lay the groundwork for more comprehensive talks during the forum, which Iranian officials hope will contribute to greater stability and cooperation in the region and beyond.
