Araghchi Criticizes U.S. Aggression and Reaffirms Iran’s Commitment to National Interests

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said at a press conference on the sidelines of the IPIS conference that Iran will resist domination while pursuing diplomacy and constructive engagement, warning that U.S. policies risk leading to global chaos.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference on the sidelines of the IPIS conference “International Law Under Assault: Aggression and Self-Defense”, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stressed that a return to international law is essential for global peace and stability.

Araghchi warned that current global trends are pushing countries to strengthen their defense capabilities without relying on international law, a path that ultimately leads to international chaos. “The United States is following a dangerous course, and the international community must stand against this trend. Returning to the principles and values of international law and diplomacy is the only way to ensure global peace and stability,” he said.

On Iran’s approach to U.S. pressure, Araghchi said: “Our policy is clear: we continue to pursue diplomacy and support the peaceful resolution of international disputes. At the same time, we will not yield to bullying, domination, or excessive demands. History has shown that Iran never retreats in the face of coercion. Even if war is imposed, we are fully capable of defending our country.” He emphasized that Iran’s strategy combines a firm ‘No’ to domination with a strong ‘Yes’ to diplomacy, dialogue, and constructive engagement.

Addressing questions about potential negotiations with the United States, Araghchi clarified: “I have never said that Iran has a new negotiation plan. Iran always supports diplomacy and talks that are fair, strategic, and based on mutual interests. The current U.S. approach shows no readiness for equitable negotiations and seeks to impose maximalist demands. While Iran remains ready for dialogue, we will never participate in talks that are coercive or dictatorial in nature.”

On relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Araghchi confirmed that consultations continue naturally. “Our ambassadors are actively engaged, and recently, the ambassadors of Iran, Russia, and China met jointly with the IAEA Director General. Cooperation with the agency follows clear rules, which must be respected as conditions evolve, and as long as they are, collaboration will continue.”

Araghchi also highlighted the achievements of Iran’s Foreign Ministry over the past year. Despite wartime conditions, the ministry conducted extensive diplomacy, notably during the 12-day conflict, which resulted in over 120 countries condemning attacks against Iran. He cited the ministry’s success in the “snapback” issue at the UN Security Council as unprecedented, revealing a global divide between supporters of Iran and supporters of the United States.

“The conference is another example of Iran’s proactive international initiatives. Recently, we have worked to stabilize relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan through consultations and hope to hold a regional meeting soon,” Araghchi said. He emphasized that any negotiations must protect Iran’s national interests and the rights of its people, and the country will not engage in talks that undermine these principles.
